Some ancient remains can be seen. An unidentified Archaic acropolis and Classical tombs have been noted at Katafiyion, c. 4 m.E. Remains of Drakanon, another  Classical town, lie here Faro at the East end of the island (1 hr. by boat). Most impressive here is the circular Tower of the 3^rd century.  The North coast of the island is best reached by boat. Evdilos , a pretty village in the middle of the North coast, with an inn, can be used as a base for the West half of the island. At Kambos (1 ¾ m.W.), with  a museum, are the remains of ancient Oinoe.  The Byzantine town on this site readopted the name of Doliche, and left the ruins called  ‘Palatia’ and an 11^th century church (Ay. Irini). Armenisti lies farther West. Inland the most interesting excursion is to Kosoikia (45 minuets  South of Evdilos) where the Kastro this Nikarias dates from the 10^th century.
